STUDY OF MICROORGANISMS IN MEDICAL ASPECT

Medical microbiology is a branch of medical science concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The microbes and the branch of microbiology are the most studied due to their great importance to medicine. Medical microbiology studies growth and development of the infectious disease in a patient and in human population known as epidemiology. It is associated to the study of disease pathology and immunology.
Similar sections cover virology, mycology, and parasitology. In each section, the introductory chapters stress the mechanisms of infection characteristic of that type of microorganism, thus providing the reader with a framework for understanding rather than memorizing the clinical behavior of the pathogens.
