muscle spasm.
Leg cramps are marked by sudden, intense, and spontaneous contractions in the muscles. Some leg cramps are idiopathic and normal, but others can be caused by underlying conditions such as diabetes or peripheral artery disorder. Muscle spasms can have reasons that aren't indicative of chronic disease. Types include extreme exertional weakness, not using enough muscle, low magnesium or low potassium. The severity of muscle spasms ranges from mild twitches to serious pain. The spastic muscle can feel more difficult to the touch than normal, and/or appear noticeably distorted. It can show noticeable twitching symptoms. Spasms usually last from seconds to 15 minutes or longer, and may recur several times before ending.
